Systems to Enhance Traceability

The COVID-19 pandemic has clearly demonstrated the critical need to trace infections back to a source. Of course, in animal health, we have practiced tracing for a long time.

The USDA, APHIS’s overarching traceability goals remain the focal points of developing a robust and efficient traceability system for the United States.

Trace First was founded on the development of high-quality traceability systems.

We have three systems that are specifically designed to capture and manage traceability data:

CVIcentral

CVI Central is designed as a purpose-driven, end-to-end Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) management system and will support and transform the traceability system to meet the overarching goals set out by the USDA. CVI Central dramatically improves the quantity, quality, and timeliness in capturing, storing, and sharing traceability data. All CVIs, paper and electronic, are transmitted to any state animal health system capable of receiving CVIs that meet the USAHA standard. All the traceability data captured by CVI Central can flow to the Animal Health Event Repository (required AHER data elements) with data quality maximized and delivery within hours of receipt.

StateVet

StateVet.com has securely and safely collated and transmitted millions of animal traceability records into CoreOne systems across the US. The system supports the receipt of electronic CVIs which adhere to the USAHA XML standard and moves the data into the CoreOne/SCS animal health information system. In addition, it allows subscribing states to upload many more formats of data such as slaughter exports, market reports, and data logger transactions. EIA test data is sent to CoreOne and populated in the comments of the individual horse record.  Statevet.com also supports on-line permitting submitted by accredited veterinarians and sent to CoreOne/SCS. We offer a free version (StateVet Lite) which allows any state utilizing CoreOne to receive a feed of all electronic CVIs which adhere to the USAHA XML standard. Trace First currently has 16 States using the StateVet.com or StateVet Lite systems.

CoreOne

CoreOne/SCS  Animal Health Information systems across the U.S. house millions of traceability records including premises IDs, animal IDs, and movement records. Traceability reporting from CoreOne includes the following:

  • Imports: this allows you to easily report on animals moved into your state

  • Exports: this allows you to easily report on animals moved out of your state

  • International Exports: this allows you to easily report on animals moved out of your state

  • Import Movement Dashboard: this shows you the number of animals imported using data from interstate summaries, NUI (non-uniquely identified/group) movements and UI (uniquely identified animals) movements, for a period of time

  • Export Movement Dashboard: this shows you the number of animals exported using data from interstate summaries, NUI movements and UI movements, for a period of time

  • Import Movement Dashboard (by Species): this shows you the number of animals imported using data from interstate summaries, NUI movements and UI movements, for a period of time and selected species

  • Export Movement Dashboard (by Speccies): this shows you the number of animals exported using data from interstate summaries, NUI movements and UI movements, for a period of time and selected species
